Description of Flow Five Snowboard Binding:
Flow sets you up with the Five Binding for all-mountain performance on an entry-level budget. Along with an ultralight asymmetrical baseplate and ventilated highback, the Five Binding adds Flow's MINIratchet buckles and single-barrel forward lean adjustment for a high-end package that you will really appreciate as your style gets more aggressive. The Five's padded I-Flex strap system and shock-absorbing base pads keep your feet secure and chatter-free when you start busting airs and laying down sick arcs in the corduroy.

Convenient but unsafe   02-06-08

I previously owned a pair of Flow MK3 bindings which were convenient but had two main problems. Firstly the large rivet holding the hiback latch in place broke, fortunately when I was doing up the binding. I later found out that the bindings wree the subject of a product recall in the US for ythis reason. Secondly the latch for locking the hiback in place often iced up making it impossible to do up the bindings. The "The 5" binding appeared to fix this problem so I bought a pair. However they are even more poorly designed: 1. The tension needed to close / open the latch on the hiback is so high that it is impossibly difficult to open the hiback with your boot in it. 2. The cable holding the highback in place rubs on the side of the hiback itself. Over a long weekend of boarding, the plastic covering the cable has worn away, and some of the multicore sttel inner cables have snapped. Not exactly safe 3. The base plate is a newer design. I think this means that you dont need new mountings for Burton boards. Unfortunately it also means that with a four hole board you can adjust the binding along or across the board, but not both... I will not be buying Flow products again, and willl shortly be buying a pair of K2's "Cinch" step ins...

Hey guys.. Well, I bought a new pair of the old '5' binding at the start of this season .. After a month of trying to get them adjusted right, the screw holding the highback up snapped at the top of the hill.. 4000ft of vertical with no heel support is great fun! After 6 emails to Flow, with zero replies, it took 2 phone calls to a pissed off Quebecois call centre to get the WRONG PART shipped to me.. 3 months later, After a drive cross country to Vancouver to the original boardstore I got em from they kindly replaced them with this years 'The 5'.. Damn.. wish they hadn't. 2 weeks of riding, and one clip has snapped already.. with a week left of the season, I reckon I'll wait till I go to Vancouver again & swap em out while they're still under warranty.. Flow - Cheap plastic, a good idea, but poor design.. they need to pick up their game.

Don't do it   03-10-08

I'm rather new to the sport which means i don't ride all too hard, and with that said, these bindings are barely holding together after one season. The straps are extremely thin and all the plastic parts, buckles and others, are chipping away. My friend got the same pair but in white and half way through the season three straps snapped. I wouldn't recommend these at all. Even though the quick on and off is a bonus, these are cheap plastic and can't hold up throughout the season, especially if you're a decent rider.
