Slim design. Compact remote. DivX support (more shows per DVD). Only issue is that there's no good way to skip forward in a DivX file except fast-forward. Wish the skip button would skip a block of time, but otherwise performance is great. Only other issue is the loud noise mine makes when it skips a chapter (when the read-head moves). It's a great alarm if you fall asleep during the movie though.

This is a great dvd player with hdmi you can upconvert dvd & divx files this plays both the remote lacks an open button but you can hold the stop button down and the disc tray will open. High Quality picture using component, or hdmi connection great digital sound using coaxial output connected to compatible home theatre sound system. I use a sony with small inexpensive klh speakers does the job just fine 6.1 & 5.1 sound with 1080i upconvert picture, don't take the blue-ray plunge while prices are so high get this player at half what I paid here on TD you can't go wrong while your at it order the hdmi cables cheaper online than at the big box stores. I cannot say enough good things about this player I have one in bedroom too, just get it while it's cheap

I have one of these, and when I switched this from my old dvd player, the picture quality with this philips was dramatically better. It is very small, takes up almost no space, is incredibly easy to connect, and the remote is not cluttered up with a bunch of junk. a minute to hook it up, and zero time reading manuals - all intuitive. phenomenal improvement in picture quality from my old dvd player.

What Is
High Definition And How Is It Different From Standard Definition?
High Definition or "HD" is a
technological leap forward from standard definition, with up to 6x the
picture resolution, so that what you see is sharper and more realistic. Regular TVs and the TV channels you watch
at home are typically in standard definition (unless you watch HD channels).
DVD are also in standard definition. Standard definition (480i & 480p)
is lower quality than high definition. Many older TV sets are standard
def, and can only show standard def content (programming). Many new
TVs are called High Definition TVs (HDTV). They are capable of showing
high def content in: 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, all high definition
formats, but 1080p provides the highest picture quality of them all. Click
