Fruper! originated in early 2006 by David Orr and Joel Baker
of downstate Illinois.
Initially, these partners began their online sales as BakeOrr Enterprises
through various auction sites such as Ebay. Their products then included
both new and used items of all types, but because of their personal interest
in unique electronics, they quickly realized that such an area should be the
primary focus of their merchandise purchases and sales.
In the Spring of 2006, business was booming for BakeOrr Enterprises.
The partners talked and brainstormed as they worked like mad to
locate, purchase, sell, ship and market their products. It didn't take long
for them to agree that an online business of their own was the next
logical step, so they set out to develop a name and a concept.
Their goal was to find exceptional deals on wholesale quantities of
a number of products, focusing primarily on computer technology and
electronics. They hoped to be in a position to offer their product
finds for sale at nominal markups in price so that their customers
could buy one item at a price similar to what is common for the
cost when buying a wholesale lot. It was a simple concept, and when
combined with the knowledge that these young men possessed of
new and interesting products, it was one that made a great deal
of sense.
